MRHStv student television anchors Theresa Sotomayor and Kimberly Nickles were recognized by cable network MSG Varsity for their stellar performance on the “Scholastic Spotlight” segment of popular call-in show “A Quick :60” (the segment originally aired May 5th, 2010). The girls wrote, edited, and produced videos for the program, as well as traveled to the MSG Varsity studio in Long Island, NY, to appear live on the show. Veteran sportscaster (and host) Mike Quick told our anchors that their segment was perhaps the best he’d ever seen, and immediately invited the girls back for a repeat performance next year.
To commemorate their appearance, and reward them for their accomplishment in live television broadcasting, MSG Varsity presented them with personalized plaques and letters of congratulations, and even donated a Kodak Z18 HD Pocket camcorder to the MRHS TV Production Program. Their award-winning segment can be viewed on Cablevision iO TV Channel 614, and on the msgvarsity.com website, under the heading “Best of MSG Varsity TV” . Congratulations Kim and Theresa!
